Obituary of Richard William Holborow, Sr.
Richard “Dick” William Holborow
On 21 November 2022, Dick Holborow (age 87) passed away peacefully from natural causes at his home in Aldie, Virginia surrounded by loved ones. Dick was a graduate of the State University of New York Cortland and a member of the Delta Kappa Beta fraternity. For 20 years, Dick worked as a Special Agent with the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs – the predecessor to the Drug Enforcement Administration. In 1995, Dick opened and operated Real Estate 101 - a successful boutique brokerage in Sedona, Arizona. Dick finally retired in 2015 and he and his wife moved to Virginia to be closer to family. To know Dick was to love Dick. There were countless legendary stories told by family, friends, contemporaries, and employees that bespoke his good nature, generosity, and humor. He was loved and revered by so many. Someone once said that a legacy is not leaving something for people; it is leaving something IN people – Dick’s legacy will live on forever simply because he touched so many hearts. In lieu of a funeral, Dick requested a Celebration of Life to honor his memory - which will be held in Virginia during the Spring of 2023. Dick is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Katie, and his loving children: son Richard (Vanessa Lea) Holborow Jr. of Kingman, Arizona, and daughter Debra (Daniel) Williams of Aldie, Virginia, his beautiful sisters, Lillian (John) Regan of Clearwater, Florida, and Mary (Steve Drozdowski) Leanzo of Sebastian, Florida, his granddaughters Sara and Lauren, great-granddaughter Lilly, and an extensive list of extended family, loved ones, and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his extraordinary parents, William and Mae, and his gregarious brother, Christopher.
