As a newly married couple, far away from home (Seattle), Flo and Ed Gordon and their family became our surrogate parents and family (Ed was Dave's uncle). Flo and Ed welcomed us readily, and we visited often. Usually we would be invited to dinner, where Flo would clear a space on the crowded kitchen counter and make delicious dinner rolls. Flo had the patience of Job...I never saw her lose her temper. Somehow she got the kids under control without any drama. I remember a time when 2-year old Pam had a screaming meltdown. Flo told her to go sit on the crying step until she was done crying. After 5 minutes and the crying persisted, Flo joined Pam and quietly sat down next to her on the step. She whispered to Pam until she finally quieted down. Wow that was impressive. The whole tantrum lasted 20 minutes but Flo was calm the entire time.
The beautiful obituary captured the essence of Flo Gordon...I will forever remember her kindness to me and Dave.
