Q: What was Reynolds really good at?
A: Renny was the funniest guys I knew. He had such a quick wit about him , yet very wry as well. I went to Claremont at the same time as he did. Renny and Breen even attended my wedding on
a boat. He kept everyone laughing. He will never be gone since he lives in the memories of so many people. I offer my sincere condolences to his family. God speed, Renny. Save me a spot at your roundtable once more.

Enthusiasm and smiles are what I think about when Renny talked..about a vast number of interests. I was so excited when my "South Bay" family was moving east the same time we were, and then getting to help you move in! Walking around Belvedere Plantation and discussing genealogy is a special memory with Renny and Breen. His love will always be with you, and may the memories be as hugs.

One of my favorite memories of Renny is that of dove hunting in the Arizona desert. It was September 1st, opening day of dove season. We were in the perfect spot! The dove would fly right into us! We positioned Renny, C.B. and Johnny so that they couldn't miss their shots. My father, George was sitting in a folding chair under a shade tree. When my dad shot, the bird landed at his feet. Renny exclaimed "good shot George!" To which my dad replied, "Awe nuts! I was trying to make it drop in my lap!"
Renny thought this was just hilarious and would just giggle like a little kid every time he would re-tell this story to me. He told me many times how much he enjoyed hunting with his children and my family. Just about a week before Renny passed away he called me. We reminisced of our hunting and shooting stories, of our love of singing in a church choir, love of country and the love we both share for our families. Then a remarkable thing happened. Somthing that no other man has ever said to me. Renny told me that he loved me. I knew what he meant. He loved me like a brother. That's when I told him I loved him too. Like the brother I never had. I shall always remember those times we spent together. Renny, and his family will always have a special place in my heart.

Oh, we lost a good one! Reynolds Wakefield Burger.
Reynolds mentioned that if you take the first letter from his name RWB, it stood for Red, White, and Blue!
Met Reynolds in the early 70's, became friends and eventually roommates. We used to "run the streets". We frequented only the good places (no dives). On one of these "runs", we met a young lady named Breen. Reynolds was smitten immediately. I was honored to be part of his wedding party. Due to Reynolds med issues, I always thought that Breen was responsible for providing him with a long wonderful life. Thank you Breen
To his children...I knew your dad at a young age. He was always steadfast, forthright, caring and kind. Most importantly I enjoyed his humor. We did not always agree politically but that one thread (humor) kept us close.
So I lift my glass (Metamucil these days) to wish my dear friend onward to a new and safe journey! LOVE YOU MAN!

This World is a much poorer place with Reynolds leaving it. His intelligence, wit, charm and good humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He may now be serving where he always wanted to be, aboard the Calypso with Jacques Cousteau. Eight bells, Renny, it's your watch.

Berger family, know that we, Pastor Lloyd and Bobette Harrison, are lifting you in prayer. Though we will miss my Brother Renny's physical presence, his loving, gentle, kind, spirit will live within our hearts and minds eternally. He always greeted us with a big smile and warm hug, and always had an encouraging word to share. The laughs, fun and fellowship we shared are immeasurable. Earth's lost is truly Heaven's gain. I know when it is our turn to enter the pearly gates, I want to be greeted with saints like Renny. To God be the glory for the wonderful memories we will forever be able to look back on. Our prayer is that Jehovah Shaloam, the God our peace, will comfort you all during this time of bereavement, be the lifter of your heads, turn your wailing into dancing as He leads you through this momentary interim of sorrow and restore your joy. Know we love you all.
