Q: How did you meet Emerson?
A: I meet Emerson and Yvette working on the Smithsonian Portrait Gallery Museum in 2006. They are such cool people and when Yvette told me they were together, I was so happy for them. I loved seeing their life together via social media. Although we haven’t seen each other in person, I left connected to them. It was only recently I realized I hadn’t seen a post in a while and found out about Emerson. I am so sorry. My condolences to his entire family, especially Yvette.

My condolences to the family of my college Homeboy & friend Emerson Steele. My memories of him was that of a cheerful young man. It honored me to make his Kappa Alpha Psi going over present from my Fellowcraft Woodwork business. He represented us as Construction Engineers from Florida A&M University thru his professionalism and charisma working his way up the ranks within Hensel Phelps Construction. My person is fortunate to have been there for him in college as a senior classmate when needed in the computer lab. He will be remembered amongst us thru our Alumni Association and Construction Engineering Program amongst those who have been memorialized as accomplished persons.

I have know Shaun since he was child. I met him when his family united with St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church. Shaun always was a sweet loving young man. We used to take him to the Youth Convention every year. Never had any trouble from him. He was always eager to learn about the Lord. What every the youth department was doing never had a problem about whether he will participate, because he was taught by his parents what every the counselor want you to do you will do, no excuses will be accepted . It was a pleasure knowing Shaun. Will miss that smile and sweet personality. I will always love Shaun.

I am writing this tribute and I’m still processing. My heart is hurting in a way that I cannot explain.
If the phrase," Give them their flowers while they are here " had a picture next to it ..it would be his and if it was a person it would be him
From the day I met Pastor Emerson aka E. He carried me in his heart as his little sister and a daughter. His love expressed in words and his actions. He never missed an opportunity to Thank me or to tell me how proud of me he was. He never judged me. When he said I was "Fam" that is exactly what he meant. When my little sister passed last year, they prayed and loved me in my pain.
We had amazing times of laughter as I drove him and Pastor Yvette around Los Angeles, CA. The car ride to and from the airport was always filled with laughter, never silent; always about me and my amazing driving skills Lol! So grateful for the conversation we had during dinner together when Pastor E and Yvette both met Edward. I am Grateful for the love he gave to my nephew Jaiden who loves his Uncle E and Auntie Yvette so much
I am more than grateful to be a part of JADE ministries and to have worked with him on various projects .. Even in that there was always a level of appreciation and being strengthened in my gifts that I did not even know I had. Although my heart is hurting. I know we will meet again. While I am here I will do all I can to continue to do my part for JADE and the body of Christ. I will continue to be a blessing, uplift, assist and pray for my beautiful Mentor and Sister Yvette
Love,
Sharray Washington-Clarke
