Regan, sadly I find this. I worked with Doug along with my husband Michael Bass who has also passed, for several years at Xerox. I remember the good times the four of us had socially as well. My birthday is June 25, 1943, just a few days apart from Doug. Sending love to you and Chris and Jamie. I hope you are well. -- Donna Sullivan Bass

Q: What will you never forget about Douglas?
A: Doug was so caring and such a great advocate for FOHA. He helped me adopt my dog Winnie and also helped me through some training issues. I will never forget his kind heart and his devotion to FOHA and true impact on the people he worked with. He will surely be missed but not forgotten ❤️

I only met Doug a few times when he’d come to FOHA on Wednesdays to observe Doggie Social and share his years of puppy wisdom with us. He was always positive and encouraging and I certainly relied on his tips for filming videos to help showcase the dogs. I can’t imagine how many dogs found their homes because of Doug’s videos and guidance. You can bet he’s playing fetch with old friends now.

We go way back with Doug, back when our kids were even younger than his grandkids. Doug and Regan had us down at the beach house and Doug took all of us out on the boat. After some fishing, we get a friendly visit from the marine police. They wanted to make sure we had enough life preservers for the entire group. Seems like Doug was a little short on the jackets and he started rumbling around the storage compartment of the boat. At which point he pulls out some flares, and says to the cop "I got these"! Classic Doug moment. We will sorely miss him. Our thoughts and prayers to Regan and the family. Love, Kevin and Mary Krom

I only met Doug a few times at FOHA, but you could just tell the love he had for all the animals and the passion he had for helping them find good forever homes. Our condolences to his family.

I knew Doug through our volunteer work at Friends of Homeless Animals, where he is sorely, sorely missed. There's not much he did not do to get dogs and cats into loving homes, including creating videos to be shared on social media and the FOHA website, conducting home visits, helping with transport and doggy social, as well as adoption events. He was also the heart of Post Adoption Support, which kept countless dogs in their homes rather than being returned because of some behavioral challenges. My heart goes out to Regan and the rest of his family. As he often would comment when a FOHA dog passed away .... "it's never long enough". Rest in peace dear friend.

Doug and I (Caysi and Belle) at a dog show in Washington DC. So many years ago but what such great memories. I miss him.

Doug and I became friends while we were training our dogs -- Belle and Caysi for obedience. Caysi was Doug's person and we spent many times at his house with Doug throwing the ball for her to retrieve. We visited Regan and Doug a few times at their beach house. It was by far our best vacation time walking the beach, dogs swimming and digging in the sand. I can't believe he is gone -- my deepest sympathies to Regan and their family.
