DUANT ALTON DURST OBITUARY
OCTOBER 7, 1939 TO DECEMBER 27, 2022
DUANE ALTON DURST OF CENTRE HALL, PA AND STERLING, VA PASSED AWAY DEC.27 AT HOME IN VA AT AGE 83. HE WAS BORN OCTOBER 7, 1039 IN CENTRE HALL, PA THE SON OF J. HAROLD AND VIANNA ZETTLE DURST, BOTH PROCEEDING DUANE. IN DEATH.
A 1957 GRADUATE OF PENNS VALLEY AREA HIGH SCHOOL SPRING MILLS, PA, HE WORKED AS AN ENGINEER AT WMLP RADIO STATION IN MILTON, PA AFTER HIGH SCHOOL. HE THEN SERVED IN THE U.S. AIR FORCE FROM 1964 TO 1968. HE ALSO GRADUATED FROM THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING.
IN STERLING, VA, DUANE WAS A MEMBER OF THE STERLING PARK AMATEUR RADIO CLUB. HE WORKED AT MICROCUBE IN LEESBURG,VA. HE LOVED PLAYING THE PIANO AND LISTENING TO CLASSICAL MUSIC. HE WAS AN AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHER, AND GARDENING WAS A YEARLY HOBBY. HE ALSO RESCUED STRAY CATS AND GAVE THEM A HOME. THE GRANGE FAIR IN CENTRE HALL, PA WAS A BIG EVENT FOR HIM. HE ALSO LOVED PA DUTCH WHITE BIRCH BEER.
DUANE’S TWO SONS, WILLIAM LEE DURST AND DANIEL LYNN DURST, PRECEDED DUANE IN DEATH. HIS ONLY SURVIVING SON, DAVID ALLEN DURST, AND HIS WIFE ALISON DURST LIVE IN FLORIDA. ONE SIBLING, LARNA KAY AND HUSBAND RONALD R. EISENHART, ALSO SURVIVE AND LIVE IN MILLHEIM, PA.
