Michelle, my heart breaks for you and the family, Martha and I would like to express our deepest sympathy. I have always enjoyed his posts about hunting, fishing and his family. It was just a week or two ago that he posted about a deer that had gotten into his crosshairs, and he brought it home. We know that he no longer suffers any sorrow, sadness or pain, and is in the presence of his Savior and we will see him again.
1Thes.4 Verses 13 - 18
[13] But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
[14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
[15] For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
[16] For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
[17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
[18] Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
We are praying for you and yours, that the Lord comfort and encourage you.

Heart felt condolences to Michelle and the kids and the rest of the Torburn family! We have lost a great husband, father and friend! Jonathan has been an inspiration to many, with his kindness, love for animals and a free spirit. Lost a hunting and fishing buddy, so many great memories on the John boat and in the woods of Fairfax. Will be miss by many! Rest in peace my friend! See you on the other side. Maxine and myself appreciate your friendship! Life is good here! But life is better in Heaven!

Jonathan, my friend, I’m glad to have known you. You were everyone’s friend. You will be so very missed because we were not done with you yet. Signed everyone. God must need you more❤️
I hope everyone that has ever been touched by your kind soul, smiles because they had the privilege to know you and, not cry because you are gone. I cried, a lot.
Though I did not know you for a long time, I knew we were immediately friends. Then, I realized, we all felt that way about you. You were heart and love and compassion and we could not walk away from you and not feel that.
I will never forget you❤️Kelliann

Jonathan,
I can't believe you're gone. I keep thinking about our recent conversation earlier this month. We were meant to hang out soon, and it breaks my heart that we never got to settle on a date. I wish I could have introduced you to baby Eleanor. I know you would have been such a wonderful uncle to her.
As Kahlil Gibran once said, "When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight." I am deeply sorrowful for your passing, but I know that I will always treasure the memories we shared. You were always there for me, a true friend and brother.
You were a shining example of how Christ's grace can mold and shape someone into a unique and blessed saint. Your life has shown me that sainthood is not about appearances, but about the internal desire to live for Christ and to live by faith. You were a true inspiration to me, dedicating your life to the love of God and the service of others, Your love, faith, and care were genuine and admirable. You will be missed but your legacy will live on.
You used to always love to say "life is good" and I know this was because of the goodness and mercy of Christ in your own life. You lived your life with grace and gratitude, always recognizing the blessings that God bestowed upon you. I wish we could have had one more meal together, but till the age to come, my friend.
May God repose your soul and comfort your family with heavenly consolation. Rest in peace my dear brother, you will be deeply missed.

Q: What will you never forget about Jonathan?
A: I will never forget my mom, Nancy Thoburn, telling us how much she loved our little cousin Jonathan, when he was in kindergarten. I especially remember her relating stories of him bringing critters and bugs in from the playground. He was a beloved cousin and will be sorely missed. What a time he must be having in the Presence of the Creator of the realms of nature he loved so much!

I knew Jonathon while going to Fairfax Christian school as a young girl. I reconnected with him after being diagnosed with cancer and loved hearing his encouraging words as he was ALWAYS so loving and kind! I enjoyed listening and learning from his u tube videos while going thru chemo. His cheerful attitude and love for his family … especially the time he spent with Paul.. spoke volumes to me. I will always remember his tender heart. He will be so missed.

Dearest Michelle and kids, I was stunned to hear of Jonathan's passing as the only images I ever have of him in my mind are of his great big smile, often waving when driving by the house. Always happy to see us and welcoming. I am praying fervently for your comfort in this unimaginable time. We love you so much and send hugs upon hugs.

So very sad. I had Jonathan in pre-K as a 3 and 4 year old. Then had Daniel in 4 year olds. Jonathan was a delightful, quirky kid who was always kind and sweet; forever smiling. I was thrilled when he found Michelle and equally so when he shared his new status as a granddad to be. May God help us all in grief and pain. Memories help but sorrow remains. I loved you, Jonathan.

I remember with great joy the privilege it was teaching you and your siblings Bible and Physical Education at Fairfax Christian School. You were in the younger class I taught and have this memory of you just listening to me because you had to but couldn’t wait to get outside to play and have fun doing what you loved best.
We are so happy Jonathan to hear, as we read of your life that we will see you in Glory one day soon as life here is just a vapor. May God bless your precious family as they live with all the wonderful memories they have of you as a husband and father who loved them dearly. May our Precious Savior wrap them all in His arms until they meet again by the Grace of God.
Sincerely with love, Pastor Robert Gifford. and family.

I met Jonathan ~ 30 years ago. He was so loving and supportive to my young sons and me. Jonathan loved deeply and he consistently supported all those in his life. He adored his family and was proud to let the world know it!! He will be missed by all who knew him. I am sad that the world has lost a person who truly exemplifies unconditional love like Jonathan did. My deepest thoughts and prayers to Michelle and the kids he adored.
Respectfully, Mimi
