I’m so incredibly happy to have had the privilege to work with Robert as a bus driver for LCPS. His upbeat personality, caring heart, and enthusiasm will always be remembered. He had a profound impact on all of his students, who all agree that he was the best bus driver they ever had. I will always remember you, Robert.

I feel privileged to have known Robert, to have shared rc and LCAA with him, and to have had him as a friend. I am in awe of his enthusiasm, his warmth, and his willingness to help wherever there was a need. I won’t ever forget the time we spent together.

Robert was one of those special people, a person everyone likes! His friendship, laughter, and kindness were legendary. As one of the few female members of LCAA I can attest to the fact that he respected everyone but had no problem laughing at and with them. I can remember at least three different incidents that make me smile when I think of them in conjunction with Robert.
When I was helping him to cut the grass on the new area of the flying field I got stuck, Robert chuckled but helped to pull me out.
When someone drove their car into the mud and got stuck, Robert immediately offered to pull them out laughing all the while.
When our car battery died at the field and Robert drove out there to pick us up and bring us home even though he had spent the day there and was needed at his home.
He is the sort of person that brightened every event he attended just by being there, always smiling, always helping any and everyone. He will be sorely missed by LCAA and all his friends there. I will certainly miss him, I will think of him every time I see a big yellow school bus.

Robert was one of the nicest men I’ve had the privilege of calling a friend. Our shared passion for remote-controlled vehicles, especially airplanes, brought us together several years ago. Robert’s passion for the hobby, love, and enjoyment of our club, LCAA, was evident every time he came to the field. He not only personally and almost single-handedly cared for our field for a few years but so often he would not be able to find time to fly his own aircraft because he was helping others.
Robert was always helping others, fixing their planes, teaching them how to fly, and even getting the planes out of the trees. He always had time for everyone when he was at the field, and was always smiling, laughing, teaching, and learning. Over the years we’ve had multiple conversations about what each of us was doing wrong or right when flying but most of all we just enjoyed the field, the outdoors, the hobby, and the company.
The field and the club will not be the same to me without Robert.

I had only known Robert for a bit less than 18 months at the time of his shocking and unexpected passing. I was a fellow school bus driver and met him when we both drove for Sycolin Creek Elementary. In the current school year we were both driving for Smarts Mill Middle School and would see each other and have a chance to chat briefly prior to our afternoon runs for that school. Although we did not have a chance to "socialize" much, we had a few lunches together and I went and watched him fly his model airplanes one sunny Saturday afternoon. We also made a point of sitting together at our bus driver meetings. I by far considered him to be my "best school bus-driving buddy", but was not sure if he considered me to be his. That is because he was so friendly with all of the other drivers..........and it was obvious that he was well-liked and respected by all of them. It is very hard for me to realize and accept that I will never again see his bright, smiling face again (in this world). Such a positive and fun guy that brought some sunshine into all those lives whom he crossed in his role as a bus driver---------other drivers and students alike. I like to think that he is "up there" watching down not only over his family, but also over all of his fellow bus drivers............helping to ensure that we all remain safe and vigilant in our roles. I miss you tremendously, old buddy. I will remember you daily and never forget you. Sincerely, Always Your Buddy,
Mark

I’m a fellow LCPS driver of Robert’s. He shared recently how proud he was of his children and that his oldest really enjoyed attending LCHS because individuality is respected there. He shared concerns for the safety of his youngest crossing the street at Evergreen that attended JLS. Also, he was very proud of how hard his wife worked for the family. He was an excellent driver and very attentive to the students he transported . I remember him asking them how there day went when they entered his bus. He would also help buckle the students to assure their safety. He said the children were the best part of the job. Rest In Peace Robert and I definitely feel privileged to have had time with you.

Robert teaching Tai how to fly. Ultimately he did crash the plane though and Robert had to dig it out of the bushes. It was a great day.
