Obituary of Marjorie Jane Whinerey

Marge J. Whinerey

 

Marge (Patterson) Whinerey, 98, passed away in her home on February 10, 2023.

 

Known to most as Nanu, she was born on May 12, 1924 in Daytona, FL. She married Donald F. Whinerey on November 14, 1943 and they had one daughter, Anne. Nanu wore many hats during her almost 100 years of life. She was a secretary during World War II, a mother, an executive assistant, an accountant, but she was most proud of being a speech writer as she loved correcting everyone’s grammar…a trait she passed to her granddaughter.

 

Nanu’s passions in life consisted of reading, preferably a good book, a strong cup of tea, British TV shows, but most important to Nanu was her granddaughter, Erin. Being a grandmother, a Nanu, was, in her own words, “My reason for living.” Her laugh, strength, courage, and unconditional love will forever be missed. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
