Matthew Charles Lucas, a resident of Great Falls, VA, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. He was 92 years old.
Matthew was born February 26, 1930 to the late Emma (Mahle) and George P. Lucas. Matthew was a graduate of Loyola College in Baltimore. He served in the Maryland National Guard. He was an engineer for the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory where he worked on numerous projects for the US Government. He loved baseball and was a dedicated fan of the Washington Nationals. He was married to the late Angelika H. Lucas for 39 years.
Along with his parents, Matthew is preceded in death by his siblings George (infant), James, John, George, Pauline (Keane) and Jeannie (Harper). He is survived by Christopher Lucas and Charlotte Lucas and stepsons James Brady and Robert Brady. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the talented and kind teams at Inova Loudoun Hospital, Capital Caring Hospice and Poet’s Walk Leesburg for their attentive care of Matthew over the past several months.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Monday, February 20 at the ADAMS-GREEN FUNERAL HOME, 721 Elden St. Herndon, VA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 1020 Springvale Rd., Great Falls, VA, on Tuesday, February 21 at 10 am. Interment Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
