Obituary of Beverly Hilton Morgan

Please share a memory of Beverly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On March 5, 2023, God called Beverly Hilton Morgan, beloved wife, mother, and friend, home to heaven. She passed away at Inova Loudoun Hospital at the age of 86. God is the center of her life.

Beverly was born in Neptune, New Jersey to Sophie and Birchell Hilton on April 29, 1936. When Beverly was young, the family moved to southwest Virginia, later to Woodstock Virginia.

After graduating from Woodstock High School in 1954, she studied voice for two years at Richmond Professional Institute (currently Virginia Commonwealth University) where she met the love of her life, Charlie Morgan.  Six months later, Charlie went on active duty in the United States Air Force. The love story, that is Beverly and Charlie, deepened through almost daily correspondence. Later that year, Charlie received permission from Beverly's father for her hand in marriage. Shortly thereafter, Charlie proposed and they were married on June 22, 1956 in Woodstock, VA. They have been married for over sixty-six years.

Their Air Force life provided Beverly with many opportunities to sing. She was a gifted, soprano soloist whose passion was singing in church choirs, musical theater, and choral groups. During this time, she was also rearing four children that she dearly loved.  When her oldest son went to college, Beverly decided it was time for her to return to college. Now, she had a new focus on helping others. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and master's degree in Clinical, Counseling and Applied Psychology from George Mason University. Beverly was a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor and member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. After Graduation, she demonstrated her compassion for others by serving her community as a psychotherapist.  Her career began at Vienna Family Therapy Center lasting several years. Beverly then opened a private practice spending over thirty-five total years using her talents to serve God.

Beverly enjoyed time spent with family. She loved to go to the beach or create a warm environment for a family get together. Beverly made it a point to be home when the kids arrived from school. She did not miss an event that involved her children. There are many fond memories sitting around the kitchen table laughing and “dancing at the table” (inside joke).  You would never be shocked if you were visiting for dinner and a special song came over the radio and Beverly and Charlie jumped up from the table and began to dance lovingly together. Beverly was always ready to give a hug, listening ear, loving words, compassion and encouragement. She was always prepared to cook a “favorite meal” when a child return home from college.  As her children grew up, she was so excited to have them come and visit.

Beverly also enjoyed spending time shopping, socializing with friends, reading,  doing puzzles, and singing. She taught Sunday School, sang in many church choirs and actively participated in both church and community Bible studies.  Beverly loved to collect Angels and maybe that is because she is one.

Beverly is survived by her husband Col. Charles E. Morgan, Jr. of Ashburn, VA; son, Charles E. Morgan, III (Caroline) of Springfield, VA; daughter, Julie M. Hubbard (Stu) of Manassas, VA; and eight grandchildren: Jason Piland (Erika), Stuart Hubbard, Jacob Piland (Anginette), Charles E. Morgan, IV (Courtney), Charles Hubbard (Jennifer), Brittany Morgan, Jonathan Piland, and James Morgan. In addition, Beverly was blessed with eight great grandchildren.

Beverly is preceded in death by her parents Sophie D. and Birchell S. Hilton; son, William S. Morgan, daughter, Kimberly M. Piland; and Nancy Ann Hilton, sister.
