Gertrude May Gardner

Gertrude (Gertie) May Gardner passed away peacefully on March 11, 2023 at her home surrounded by family.  She was born October 10, 1930 in Fairfax County, Virginia to Clem Thomas Farr and Edna Bell (Burgess) Farr.

 

She was raised in the Dranesville Virginia area along with six sisters.  She attended Herndon High School in Herndon, Virginia where she lettered in basketball.  She married her husband Willard L. Gardner on February 26, 1948 and they just celebrated their 75 Wedding Anniversary.

 

She was a member of the Dranesville United Methodist Church, enjoyed working crossword puzzles and crocheting, watching Jeopardy, football, and college basketball.  She was preceded in death by her parents, five of her sisters, and her daughter Beverly May Spurlock.  She is survived by her husband Willard L. Gardner, daughter Connie Marr (Doug), sons Keith Gardner (Cheryl), Lowell Gardner (Debbie), and Curtis Gardner her sister, Barbara Slaughter.  She is also survived by nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.  Additionally there are many surviving nieces and nephews.
