Obituary of Margery F. Nichols

Margery F. Nichols, 73 Margery Frances (Martin) Nichols passed away at approximately 10:40 am Saturday, September 24, 2011. She had chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), as well as a heart condition and anemia. She "gave it her all" in fighting against her illnesses, but was no longer able to continue the struggle.
She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on March 9, 1938 to Forest L. and Dorris L. (Fay) Martin. She grew up in various communities in Iowa because her mother was a school teacher and taught in many different schools.
After graduating from State Center High School, class of 1956, State Center, Iowa, Marge attended business college in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She married Larry Nichols in Troy Mills, Iowa on May 19, 1957 and went with him to many places during his US Naval career.
Marge is also survived by her brother, Jim Martin (Elana), of Mountain View, California and three children - Cyndi Lyon (Randy) of Des Moines, Iowa, Valerie Buckless of Aurora, Colorado, and Bruce Nichols of Falls Church, Virginia, as well as five grandchildren, Matthew Wood (Fabiola), Jennifer Lyon, Josh Lyon, and Justin Lyon, and two great grandchildren, Angie Trujillo and JJ Trujillo.
When asked how she would want to be remembered, Marge said she loved her family, her friends and nature. She enjoyed doing volunteer work. She enjoyed having good times. Marge was most recently active in Springfield United Methodist Church, Springfield, Virginia.
Following cremation, her remains will be interred in the Sterling Cemetery, Sterling, Virginia, at a private family service. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm, Friday, October 14 in the chapel of the Greenspring Retirement Home, Springfield, Virginia, where she resided for over seven years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to BCF/Greenspring Hospice, 7400 Spring Village Drive, Springfield, Virginia 22150.
