Obituary of Stanley Alan Dawson

February 13, 1953 - March 16, 2023

Stanley A. Dawson, 70, of Herndon, VA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 16, 2023.

Stanley is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandra.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dawn along with his 2 children, Alicia Dawson Urick (Charles) and Amy Dawson Henrickson (Mike) and 4 grandchildren Joey, Jessie, Miles and Annalise.  Stanley is also survived by his sister and many other family members and friends.

Stanley was proud to be a life-long Virginian.  He was born in Giles County on February 13, 1953 and raised in Arlington, graduating from Washington-Lee High School in 1971.  He enjoyed technology and working with his hands, which led him to a career in the telephone company, that began while he was still in high school and continued up until his retirement in 2016.  Stanley met and later married Dawn Fox in 1977.  They settled in Herndon in 1984, where they raised their two children and later spent many years doting on their four grandchildren.  Stanley and Dawn were able to spend many years traveling together, sight-seeing and taking in sunsets all across the United States.  Stanley was a master craftsman and handyman and a big Washington and college sports fan. He delighted in a good joke and enjoyed time outside in nature.  Stanley held many titles in his life, but above all else, he was a devoted family man and was most proud of being a husband, father, and grandfather.  We will miss him endlessly.
