Mrs. Sanyogta Charnalia, aka, Gita Charnalia or Gog left us for her heavenly abode on March 20th, 2023. She passed on peacefully surrounded by her children, and shortly after a prayer conference attended by all her grandchildren and children.
Gita was widowed from Dr. V.M. Charnalia in 1983 and lived thereafter primarily with her daughters – Pamela and Meera in the US as an integral member of their families. She was instrumental in raising all four of her grandchildren and enjoyed every interaction with all six of her great grandchildren. She was the eldest of 8 siblings – all of whom loved and revered her and addressed her as Behenji.
Born in Rawalpindi, she migrated to India upon the partition and lived in both the south and northern parts of the country. She was an avid musician all through her life and was the lead singer in most of the Bhajans (prayer hymn sessions) and Sangeets (get-togethers primarily for music). She was a Sai Baba devotee and composed and sang songs for their regular devotional meetings.
She was a gentle loving soul who showered all those she met with an abundance of love and blessings. A global traveler, Sanyogta learned as she aged, and moved with the times (adept at social media) without moving from her guiding principles. She was the family’s ambassador to the Spiritual world and to religion.
She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
