December 3, 1933 to March 26, 2023

Patricia Anne Woods, 89, of Herndon, VA passed away peacefully at her home. Previously from Belleair Beach, Florida and New Hyde Park, NY.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel, her son Daniel, and two sisters, Joan and Kathleen.  She is survived by her loving son, John (Tara) and daughter in law, Debra. Pat is also survived by her three grandchildren, Kathryn, Jack, and Sarah, and several nieces and cousins.

Pat grew up in Flushing, New York with her parents, John and Elizabeth and her two sisters. She went on to graduate from nursing school and marry the love of her life, Daniel, in 1955. During their years together, they both enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises. Together, they raised two children, Daniel and John. While working as a nurse at Long Island Jewish Hillside Medical Center and raising her family, Pat earned her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She went on to obtain two Master’s degrees and rose through the ranks to become the Assistant Director of Nursing.

Sadly, her husband Daniel passed away at the young age of 52. Pat continued to work at LIJHMC until she retired in 1996 as the Vice President of Nursing. In 1997, Pat’s oldest son, Daniel tragically passed away at the age of 40.

Pat permanently relocated to Belleair Beach, Florida, where she enjoyed 22 blissful years of retirement on the Gulf of Mexico. She enjoyed going to movies, dinners, and having a glass of Chardonnay with her many friends. More than anything, “Grandma Pat” loved hosting her grandchildren and taking them on their many trips to Disney World.

In 2019, Pat relocated to Herndon, VA, to be near John, Tara, and her grandchildren. Pat became the Queen of Bingo at her Assisted Living Community. Throughout Pat’s life, she maintained a devout faith and active member in the Catholic community at Our Lady of the Snows, St. Jerome, and Saint Veronica. Above all, family and education, along with a good Tiramisu were the important guiding principles in Patricia’s long and beautiful life.

Visitation will be held at Adams Green Funeral Home on Friday, March 31, 2023, between 5:00 PM -8:00 PM with church services to be held the following day at St. Veronica Catholic Church on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 10:30 AM.

Special thanks to the Fairfax County Fire Department for assisting Pat on her several trips to the hospital. Also, thanks to the doctors and nurses at Reston Hospital Center for their care and finally thank you to the aides at Pat’s Assisted Living Community.
