Obituary of Linda Joanne Gerard

Linda Joanne Gerard, 73, of Morgantown, WV, passed away on Tuesday, March 28th, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. She bravely fought a long battle with scleroderma and rheumatoid arthritis and was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer.


Linda was born on August 6th, 1949, in Morgantown, WV, the oldest of seven brothers and sisters. Linda graduated from Morgantown High School in 1967, and went on to marry her high school sweetheart, Sam, in 1971. Before her retirement, Linda worked for many years as a cook for Monongalia County public schools.

Linda was a devoted wife and loving mother to their three children. She cherished her family and greatly enjoyed celebrating holidays, traveling, and camping with them.
 
Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Peter Gerard; father, Stanley Ray Kerns, Sr.; mother, Loretta Blanch Kerns; and brother, Stanley Ray Kerns, Jr.
 
Linda is survived by son, Christian Michael Gerard; daughter, Gina Gale Gerard; son, Dominick Samuel Gerard (Karen); granddaughters, Ava Gerard, and Nora Gerard; sisters, Sharon Anderson, Kathy Willis, Gale Kerns and Vanessa Moorman; brother, Kenneth Kerns; as well as numerous extended family. We will never forget Linda’s smile, her courage and humor in the face of adversity, and her unlimited capacity to love.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National Scleroderma Foundation or the American Cancer Society.

The Adams-Green funeral home in Herndon, VA is in charge of arrangements. In keeping with Linda’s wishes, there will be no service at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
