Helen Mae Seale (age 94) of Great Falls, VA passed away on April 4th at home with her caregivers (Christy, Janie & Sheri) by her side. She was the widow of Joseph Wesley Seale who she was married to for 72 ¹/² years.

Born at home in Fairfax County she was the daughter of the late Jesse & Nellie Shifflett of Great Falls.

Helen was employed in 1951 with the school system at Great Falls Elementary as a cafeteria worker for 4 years. Later in her life she became an equal partner & owner of J.W. Seale Excavating for 20 years alongside her beloved husband. The remainder of her days were spent at home cooking, baking, gardening, canning & taking care of her family.

She is survived by siblings, Mary of Stafford, VA, Betty of Lovetsville, VA, Joanie (Harry) of Warrenton, VA, Donnie of Fort Valley, VA & Charles of Clearbrook, VA; children Janie of Front Royal, VA & Joseph (Sandra) of Woodstock, VA; 5 grandchildren Sheri (Danny) of Frederick, MD, Christy (Dave), Joe (Jennifer) of Culpeper, VA, Gina of Paradise, CA & John (Autumn) of Woodstock, VA.11 great grandchildren, Tenaya, Tiffany, Jacquie, Delia, Christopher, Jenna, Daniel, Harley, Sean, Colbie & Jamie. 6 great great grandchildren, Jolene, Jackson, Wyatt, Charlotte, Waylon, Savannah & 1 baby girl on the way. The most important thing in Helen's life was her family. She devoted her whole life to loving every member and their significant others as they came along. She loved to cook & bake; bread by far was her signature item. She loved warm weather when she could get in the garden to plant & harvest the vegetables & then can or freeze everything for the coming year. She always looked forward to trips with her daughter to orchards and picking fruit so she could make her own applesauce, jellies & jams. She enjoyed sewing, making blankets, clothes for the grandkid's dolls, hemming her own pants & sewing patches on Joe's uniforms. She would stop whatever she was doing when the grandkids needed a book read, a back scratched, another hand for a puppet show or just simply a hug. She brightened every life she touched & showed everyone what the word strong truly meant.
