Christian liked books when he was little. He had a version of The Pilgrim's Progress book for kids called "Christian's Journey." Christian used to like Christian books.

When Christian was little, he liked books, and he enjoyed a lot having someone read books to him. "God's Mighty Warrior" is a devotional book Christian liked when he was little, and I would tell him that he was God's mighty warrior. Christian literally became a mighty warrior.

Christian liked a lot to participate in Packing Meals events, and he seemed interested in the project and in the fact that it benefitted starving children. Christian packed meals on several years. One time, I saw him working hard along an adult man. He was counting meal packs, fitting and arranging them in boxes and closing the boxes and carrying them to a specific location.
I was very impressed by how hard he was working doing physical labor because he was a young kid. Daniel was there too, helping a lot by sealing meal packs with a machine fast. Both showed that they cared about starving children, and both helped a lot. So many people would show up and help a lot every time! Christian enjoyed doing it.

I took Christian to see a movie in a movie theater and I think that was the first time that he went to one. I took him to see Ratatouille and that was in the summer of 2017 and he was two years old. The movie theater was in the Rio Lakefront Shopping Center in Gaithersburg, Maryland, which was still new and Christian went there several times because there were several activities for him to enjoy there, including getting in a paddleboat on the lake.
During his first time watching a movie in a movie theater, Christian barely watched the movie. He was smiling a lot and seemed happy, but it was hard to keep him quiet and still all the time. Julianna went too and Ratatouille was a good choice for both, but Christian was too young to sit still for a long time in a movie theater. It was still a good experience for both. I can't say that Christian liked Ratatouille because he would smile a lot when he was a baby and when he was a toddler, so his happy face might not have had anything to do with Ratatouille. But I think that was his official first movie in a movie theater.

This is from when Christian and a couple of our friends went out to dinner. We had a blast! And, even though Christian wasn’t familiar with some folks, he made it a point to introduce himself. I’m sure everyone felt the light that he brought to the table that night, because I sure did. I will never forget this dinner, and I will never forget you, Christian.

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Christian?
A: Christian had a beautiful smile and a great laugh. I will cherish our memories with you and your family in Disney forever. You were such a brave and stoic young warrior who fought valiantly through your pain. May we all learn to grow in grace and character as you have done and the young age of 17. Christian was pure light and love. He was such a gentle giant with and old soul. I fondly remember this trip to Disney with the Hernandez family and how much Christian loved to laugh. His feet were aching as we walked around the park for hours, but he battled through the pain, never complaining as he didn’t want to ruin anyone’s fun. That’s how he was. Selfless and kind. Even through his pain, he found humor in the simple joys of life. Christian had a great sense of humor! One night, we got lost driving through the Everglades. It was a little scary, but we cracked jokes about being lost on a two lane road in the middle of nowhere and how creepy and funny it was. I loved hearing Christian laugh. He had the best laugh. Christian could brighten the darkest of rooms with his warmth and love for all things and everyone. I believe he fully understood what this life was about at the tender age of 17, so God called home his brave warrior. Like Christ, he suffered and endured, growing in grace and wisdom. Now he is free from pain and suffering, at home, in the arms of our Heavenly Father. May you rest in peace sweet Christian and may you be laughing with the angels and smiling down on your precious family and friends who loved you fiercely…until we meet again.
