I remember playing the piano for Phil and he for me as we studied in our youth. Phil continued with classical and I moved to jazz and rock n roll and it was great seeing him at our 50th class reunion as we reconnnected after all those years.

I am much saddened by Phil's death. If I recall correctly, and at this age that becomes a great concern, Phil was with the W&L Crew in Great Britain for the Henley though not an active rower. I have two special memories of Phil. First, I met up with him after the Henley while we toured Europe. We and another classmate, Charlie Bittenger, toured Switzerland together, eschewing Hotels and youth Hostels, sleeping in a zoo and under a Bridge near a church on Saturday evening in sleeping bags in Berne. We entered the zoo area after dark and were not aware that it was a zoo area. The animals made too much noise in the zoo during the night, disturbed us and so we switched to the bridge in the middle of the night. Churchgoers in the Morning woke us up. Phil and I also explored the new W & L building together when it first opened. The hallway at the entrance, again if I remember correctly, has pictures in it of the crew rowing and of the booster group at a basketball game. I believe Phil may have been in that latter picture. Phil and I were fellow crewmates on the Washington-Lee Crew. Phil always had a pleasant word and was a person whom you enjoyed being with. He will live on in the memory of all who knew him. My condolences to his wife and family.

My heart was saddened when I saw Phil's obituary. My mother was Phil's piano teacher, and he was definitely one of her favorite students. Phil delivered my mother's eulogy, and then we lost touch with Phil and the Bjorlo family. I am sending love and my deepest sympathy to the Bjorlo family. May God comfort you during this sad time.

I will always remember Phil as a skilled student council president (both Jr and sr high), whip smart, kind, and ready with a smile, witty comment, and easy laugh. My condolences to Sheila and their family.

Dear Sheila and Family,
I’m heartbroken to learn of Phillip’s passing. Not only was he a very sensitive and talented pianist, which reflected his sensitive, gracious personality, he was a multi-talented and accomplished individual. I will miss his playing and his presence, as will many others in the music community where we got to know him.
My deepest condolences,
Judith Block

Phil was my oldest cousin and I remember when he was in the Black Hills over the Days of 76. He was 4 years older the me, but how I looked up to him....and when he played the piano I was mesmerized! He was certainly a "Master of his craft!!" RIP Phil! I love you!

Please accept a grove of trees as a token of our sincerest condolences to you for the loss of your beloved Phil. You have our deepest sympathy during this difficult time.
My most vivid memory of Phil is the joy he exuded while watching the boys play baseball. He always encouraged them in thoughtful, positive ways then would follow up with a chuckle and a grin. I loved sitting near him just to absorb his magic.
Wishing you peace and comfort.
