Obituary of Ann Patricia Garcia
Ann Patricia (DelNero) Garcia was born in Yonkers, NY on April 30, 1931. She grew up in Tuckahoe, NY and worked as a Telephone Operator. She met the love of her life, Hector Ruben Garcia, who preceded her in death. They married and traveled around the US with his job as a Surveyor. They made many friends along the way. They finally settled in Clarendon, VA. They heard of a new subdivision further west, called Sterling Park. They drove out and decided to take a gamble and make the move. In 1963, they moved into their new home.
Ann had three children. Susan Garcia Haynes (Christopher), Michael Garcia (Tammi) and Lisa Garcia Hotaling (Scott). They had 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Ann is survived by two of her sisters, Mamie Saviano and Carmel Belles, she is preceded in death by her sister Jean Cunningham. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ann loved to garden, was an avid reader; until Macular Degeneration took her vision. Ann always knew prices at the different grocery stores, she would pay more in gas to save a few pennies at another store! She was always up for finding a bargain.
Ann always said she was a “tough bird” and truly proved that until her death. The last 6 months of her life were a bit rough, but she continued to show how tough she truly could be.
Ann has taught many people so much in her long life. She will truly be missed by many, especially her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks (if you like) that you make a donation to American Macular Degeneration Foundation (macular.org) since this took so much away from their Mother.
Please feel free to dress casually. The family welcomes you to join the at Jimmy’s Old Town Tavern, 697 Spring Street, Herndon, VA 20170 immediately after the Celebration of Life.
The family would like to thank everyone for your support during this very difficult time.
