Obituary of Mary Pauline Jones

MARY PAULINE JONES

On Monday, May 15, 2023, Mary Pauline Jones of Herndon, VA passed away at Virginia Hospital Center.

Mary Pauline was the beloved partner of Tony Szymczyk; beloved daughter of Susan Jones; sister of Vicki Kidd; niece of Sally and Fred Williams; Aunt of Joshua Kidd and Carrie Tinnell.  Mary Pauline was loved by her cousins Stephen Williams, Jennifer Casey,  Allison Cassin, Erik Kristensen and many relatives and friends.  Mary Pauline was predeceased in death by her father, James H. Jones.

Mary Pauline was born on August 27, 1986 in Fairfax, VA.  She attended James Madison High School and received her Bachelor of Arts from Christopher Newport University.  She did post graduate studies at the University of Virginia, Sorensen Institute and the University of Delaware Leadership Institute.

Mary Pauline serviced as a Board Member on the Fairfax Transportation Advisory Commission and the Fairfax Area Disability Services Board.

Mary Pauline was a brilliant woman; a dedicated community activist; and, a respected leader in her field. Mary Pauline was known for her expertise and professionalism.  Her professional career included working for Bay Armoury and Supervisor Pat Herrity; U.S. House Government Oversight and Reform Committee; and, the U.S. Department of Education.

Mary Pauline worked for Congressman Tom Davis and many other Federal, State and Local elected officials.

Mary Pauline will be dearly missed by her family and friends who will always remember her as a patriotic, adventurous, fun loving, thoughtful, and caring person.  Mary Pauline will be remembered mostly for her exceptional culinary talents and cheering her favorite sports teams, especially “The Alabama Crimson Tide”.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary Pauline’s memory to the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
