Obituary of Jacob H. McKeown
Jacob Hanford McKeown was born on February 24, 1999 to Jim and Angela McKeown. He sadly and unexpectedly passed away on July 3, 2023 at the age of 24.
Jake was a natural artist from very early in childhood. His artistic mind was beyond belief. Many of his report cards mentioned his classroom sketches, but not necessarily in a positive way during Math or English class! Art was his passion, however, and he would choose doodling over long division every time. After high school, he spent months perfecting his portfolio and was accepted to the first tattoo apprenticeship he sent it to. He quickly became a sought after tattoo artist and his creations were stunning.
Jake’s most prized work of art was his son Maverick. Jake loved his son with every ounce of his being and was a wonderful father. He was teaching Maverick the joy of art and they had many painting sessions together.
In his spare time, Jake enjoyed attending music festivals. The variety of venues and performers was yet another artistic outlet for him. Jake’s personality was larger than life and he had an effortless sense of humor that would keep you in stitches. He left a mark on everyone he met, and I don’t mean just tattoos.
In addition to his son and parents, Jake is survived by his three brothers, Jimmy, Eric, and Greg, and his partner in crime (Maverick’s Mom) Lauren (Cooney).
A service will be held at 1pm on July 15, 2023 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church (201 East Frederick Drive, Sterling VA 20164). Jake was never a huge fan of wearing a suit, so please feel free to dress “church casual!” A reception will immediately follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, a donation may either be made to assist with the care of Jake’s son, or to your favorite charity.
