Obituary of Beverly Ann Slovikosky

Please share a memory of Beverly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Beverly Ann Slovikosky (Age 89) of Lansdowne, Virginia, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023 at her home.  Born October 12, 1933 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Harry and Erma Overcash.  Beloved wife of Walter F. Slovikosky; mother of Steven (Ilene) Slovikosky and Gary (Sonja) Slovikosky; and grandmother to Shari (Paul) Russenberger, Kathleen (Samuel) Swanson, Michael Slovikosky, David Slovikosky, Sandy Slovikosky, Brian Gold and Michael Gold; and great grandmother to Wyatt Russenberger.

Beverly met and married the love of her life, Walter in Altoona, Pennsylvania and moved to Washington, DC to begin their future together.  They married in the Lutheran Church in La Plata, Maryland on December 1, 1951 and raised two sons, Steven and Gary.  Beverly’s rich and loving journey through life with Walter would last for nearly 72 years.

Beverly began her working career at the telephone company, drive-in Hot Shoppes and then started a long-term career working for a number of congressmen, the last of which were Senators Ernest Gruening and Ted Stevens of Alaska.

Beverly enjoyed playing second base for the Meadows Farm women’s softball team in her younger days and was an avid golfer for a large part of her life.  She enjoyed extensive travel throughout the United States and parts of the world.  She enjoyed cooking and spending time with family.

Beverly helped raise 3 of her grandchildren after the loss of her daughter-in-law Linda Slovikosky.  Beverly was very involved in the lives of her grandchildren Shari, Kathleen and Michael as they lived down the street from one another.  She was known to many of their friends as “everyone’s grandmother” due to her kindness and generosity.  She made frequent trips to the Altoona area to help family and friends in need.

Loving wife and mother, forever missed, forever loved.

Family plans to hold private services.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your charity of choice.
