Brigitte and I met at the University of Maryland and became fast friends. I always marveled at her courage and spirit of adventure to travel so far from home to attend college. She stayed with us for a few semesters and became part of our family. Brigitte helped me immensely in my French studies, as I helped with her English. I believe these photos are from 1977. She was a bright light to all who knew her.
My deepest sympathy for your loss. Sending prayers for peace and comfort to all the family.

Brigitte and I became friends in the late 80's as our interest in Fairfax County land use matters coincided. We talked about proposed testimony before the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors. Our phone discussions were often interrupted with Brigitte's exclamations that the guinea pig was loose in the kitchen!
My fondest memory, however, was at a Planning Commission meeting when the Chairman questioned whether her testimony would fit in the allotted time. She calmly responded that she timed herself using the kitchen timer! The Chairman was amazed that not only did she finish in time, but that he understood everything that she said.
Brigitte had a glorious French accent, incredible energy and a disarming manner. She was so special.

I have known Brigitte for about 20 years as part of a woman’s book club. She brought a unique perspective to our discussions.
I associate Brigitte with St. Patrick’s Day as she and Jack hosted a lovely party complete with good food and games.
I have attached a picture of us from one such party during happier times.
My sympathies to the family. Rest in peace, Brigitte.
