Obituary of Lois Marie Badolato
Lois M. Badolato, 84, of Reston, Virginia, passed away on July 12, 2023. She was born on November 2, 1938, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Thomas and Marie Vick Pieper. Lois was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family.
Lois met her future husband, Edward Badolato, when they were children living in the same neighborhood. Eventually, they fell in love and married in 1960. As Ed began a long career as a Marine Corps officer, Lois became the ideal military wife. She followed Ed from post to post, managing children at home while he managed troops in the field. They frequently traveled and spent several years in the Middle East during a difficult and dangerous time.
She enjoyed a lifetime of adventures including touring the pyramids in Egypt and attending a private audience with the Pope at the Vatican, but Lois adored motherhood most of all. She found joy in loving, raising, and having fun with her children and grandchildren. She delighted in sharing humorous stories of their adventures and cherished spending private moments with them. Lois believed in the importance of creating lasting memories, even if it meant turning a blind eye to her grandchildren sitting in kitchen cabinets, helping themselves to imaginary tea using her antique china, or making music with pots and pans.
Lois is survived by her daughter Shawn (Robert) Beyer, her son Blake (Jennifer), her five grandchildren Patrick and Matthew Beyer, and Gina, Julia, and Leo Badolato. She is also survived by her sister Thomasine Thacker. Lois was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Marie Vick Pieper and her beloved husband Edward V. Badolato.
A funeral service will be held in her honor at Ft. Myer Old Post Chapel on October 3 at 8:45 a.m. Following the service, Lois will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
Lois M. Badolato will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her legacy of love, strength, and dedication will forever be cherished.
