I met Alice and her parents in 1950. We all lived on Underwood Street in Arlington. The houses were new and the parents and their children seemed all about the same age. It was a great time to grow up. Going to Tuckahoe Elementary School, Williamsburg Jr. High School, Wakefield High School and some like Alice went on to Yorktown High School. I knew Alice's parents and would see them when they move to Vinson Hall. Alice and Bill would have parties at their lovely home and invite me and my late wife, Susie. As guests at her parties Alice would invite those from the Underwood Street. A sort of small reunion.
Alice was a wonderful person, always bringing people together. She was a dedicated professional in her tax accounting work. So many things she did were with other people in mind. Trying to make life fun and she succeeded. Alice was a unique person who stood out in a crowd. Bill was the perfect husband for Alice and would have fit in very well with the Underwood Street Crowd had he grown up there as we did. Alice will be missed.

I first met Alice and her parents in 1950, when we moved in across the street from them in Arlington. She was pretty, sweet, considerate of others and very smart. As a 9 year old, she started a neighborhood "newspaper" printed on a mimeograph with all the local (our street) news as reported by a crew of neighborhood kids. As a teenager, I can recall listening to her playing rock and roll hits on her 45 rpm record player, with the window open so we all could enjoy them. Her parents were the most wonderful people--nice to all us bratty kids, calm, understanding and supportive. It was a joy to be around them. In college, we attended some of the same debutant balls and parties. And as married adults, we stayed good friends, playing in the same duplicate bridge club and enjoying dinner out together on occasion. Alice was just an all-around great person, a loyal friend, a loving mother, and a supportive wife for Bill. We shall miss her smile, humor and kindness. Our thoughts are with Bill and their family.

Ron and I cherish memories of many happy times spent with Alice and Bill over many years. We shared a lot of meals together and trips to interesting and fun places. Many of those places became a "tradition" that we would return to again and again. Alice was a true and loyal friend to us and many others, but family was the most important to her. Alice played a huge role in my decision to join PEO. We shared a love of horses in our neighborly connection with her KY roots and my TN roots. Oh how I will miss her. I think of S. E. Mac Naughton’s words, “Those who have lived in our hearts are never really gone. As long as we keep them with us, in our hearts and our thoughts, they will be with us always. It is with deep sadness that we learned the loss of Alice. She was a lovely friend during our years in Fox Mill Estates. I, particularly, remember her watercolor paintings of birds and was inspired to learn and create watercolor paintings.
Alice loved her family very much. Don and I send our love to Bill and their children and pray for peace as they navigate the grief that such a loss will bring.
