Obituary of Addison-Alexander K. Cadang
SPC Addison Kalikolanikukilakilaihomaekalilinoemalunaokahonua “Bubba” Cadang is the beloved, youngest son of Alexander Jr. and Joelynn Cadang of Sterling, VA. Addison was born on October 8, 2001 in Kealakekua, Hawaii. In 2010 and after moving to Virginia, he attended Park View High in Sterling, VA. As a graduate of the Class of 2020, Addison played four years for the Park View Patriots and was Captain during his varsity seasons. Addison was also an Associate Member of the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company and after graduation, enlisted in the United States Army.
In August, 2020, Addison started his basic training at Fort Jackson, SC, in the 193rd Infantry Brigade. He was a PVT with Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 13th Infantry Regiment and successfully completed his combat training on November 12, 2020. He attended Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gregg-Adams (formerly known as Fort Lee) Virginia, where he graduated and became a 91B, Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. After graduation, he attended Airborne School at Fort Moore (formerly known as Fort Benning) Georgia, where he earned his Parachutist Badge.
SPC Cadang was then stationed at Fort Liberty (formerly known as Fort Bragg), NC and was in Eco 127th Airborne Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division. His MOS was 91B1P (Wheel Vehicle Mechanic, Parachutist AIRBORNE).
In August 2021, SPC Cadang went on a “no notice” deployment in support of “Operation Allied Refuge.” His battalion found out on Thursday and by Saturday they were on their way. He returned on September 12, 2021.
To date, SPC Cadang had been on 12 company field exercises, eight Battalion FTXs, three Brigade consolidated JFEs (Joint Field Exercises), two JRTC (Joint Readiness Training Center rotations), and one deployment to Kuwait. Addison passed away while stationed at Fort Liberty on September 21, 2023.
SPC Addison Cadang a Native Hawaiian loved his island home. He spent is youth swimming in the warm waters off of Pu’u Honua O Honaunau and playing on the beach at Milolii. He was a constant joker and was the absolute life of every party. His humor, ability to love, and capacity to make new friends was a wonder to behold! He is survived by his parents Alexander and Joelynn Cadang, his sisters Alyssia (Ikaika) Kailiawa-Smith and Angelique Cadang, his older brother Austin (Madison) Cadang. Grandparents, Linda Cadang of Stephenson, VA , Joseph and Leilani Nullar of Honomalino, Hawaii. Addison is deeply missed but eternally loved! May this eternal deployment, in service of our Lord, bring all of us solace and eventual peace.
