My sincerest condolences to Aquina and the rest of Grant's family. I enjoyed working with him at CIA in the 1980s and was always impressed with his diligence and knowledge. May he rest in eternal peace. Dick Krapf

I met Grant at work and every encounter with him was always professional, positive and sincere. He was one of those people who was always genuinely happy to see you and one came away feeling good after dealing with him.
Years after he retired, I reconnected with him through Honor Flight. His positive attitude and genuine care for other people was quite evident. I was always delighted when I realized I would be spending the day with him and watch the veterans benefit from his care and attention.
Grant was truly a special person who will be greatly missed.

As a charter member of our ski group, Grant was indispensable in keeping us together and focused on the key objective — enjoying each other’s company and having fun. Truth be told, we were not world-class skiers on the slopes, but we were afterwards in the hot tub as we rehashed the events of the day.

Grant and I served together in Vietnam during 1968-1969 as young Army Lieutenants recently out of college. In spite of living on different coasts and not seeing much of each other, we have been close friends ever since. We had many things in common including our military training and experiences, but most of all we shared the same principles on what is the right thing to do in life.
I believe Grant's obituary sums him up well. He was a total class person. I am fortunate to have known Grant and to have had him as a friend for many years.
The attached picture shows Grant receiving a going away plaque a few days before he left Vietnam for home. You all know Grant had a good sense of humor and was frequently smiling. I will always think of Grant smiling like he is doing in this picture.
To Aquina and the rest of Grant's family, I express my sincerest condolences.
He will be missed. He made a difference.
Sincerely,
Richard Sutliffe

There is no harder goodbye than letting go of someone you love. My deepest sympathies to your entire family.
I had the privilege of meeting Grant through his loving wife, Aquina at our local fitness club. I enjoyed getting to know Grant over the years and talking to him about all the things he loved - Aquina and his family, his travels, his active ski, golf and tennis life. I feel blessed to bear witness to the love he shared with Aquina and his family. It was obvious they have a strong family tree.
Both Grant and Aquina displayed unbridled kindness and compassion during a very difficult time in my life. Their kindness and generosity are innate - the roots are solid.
My deepest sympathies to your entire family. I hope the gift of time and the cherished memories and your favorite stories keep Grant close at heart❤️

To Grant's family,
My dad Jim was one of Grant's ski buddies - "Team Geeze," I believe they called themselves. I want you to know how much Grant meant to my dad, and what an amazing support he was to me during my dad's decline the last couple years. He and their friend John drove to my mother's funeral last year in NC so they could be there for my dad. I was always humbled by the extraordinary men my dad was able to call friend, and to enjoy so much life with. I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Hoping Grant and my dad, and their buddy Tom, are reunited on some infinite downhill slope.

What a wonderful guy Grant was! He was our backyard neighbor growing up and he was kind to everyone even back when we were kids. Fast forward about 65 years and we had the pleasure of seeing Grant at Anne's wedding. I will always be thankful for the great visit we had at that time.
We are thinking of your family as you go through this difficult time, and praying for your peace. What a void Grant's death will leave .

Grant,
Antoinette and I will truly miss our yearly sojourn to the DC area, touring Civil War battlefields for you and me, and, Christmas shopping for Antoinette and Aquina. It has been an honor getting to know you over the last ten years. Please try to track down General George McClellan and ask him why he never chose to chase after General Lee when he had the advantage at Antietam Creek. We will be there to honor you at Arlington National Cemetery in the Spring, a fitting place for you to rest for eternity. You are already missed.

Grant was just a wonderful human being. He sincerely cared about whatever was going on in my life. We talked frequently about his golf game and my golf game, and he was always concerned that he would have one bad hole that would ruin his round. I told him he should always pick up after a triple bogey rather than count all the rest of the strokes on the hole. But I don’t think he ever did that. We played one tennis match years ago and agreed to stop after we each won one set. I think neither of us was willing to, or able to play a third set. He willingly took to adding his talents to being an usher at 9:30 mass each Sunday. I put him in charge of finding a family at mass to take up the host and wine. He was great at finding a couple who had never done it before. We always joked that it was a 50-50 proposition when asking people to be a gift family. He was also a very sincere person. When he responded to a situation, you could tell he meant every word he said. I was very moved when he consoled me about the death of my wife. I could tell he meant every word he said. I looked forward to seeing him every Sunday. Grant was also a regular helping to fix the batter for pancake breakfast when the Knights of Columbus had their monthly breakfast. He had to change his shirt before he started ushering after the breakfast because Aquina accused him of smelling like a pancake at mass. He was a wonderful person. He will be greatly missed.
