Harrison Walther passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023, at the age of 86. His life was a testament to dedication, service, honor, and achievement.

Born on November 5, 1936, in New York City, NY, Captain Walther graduated from Hamburg High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Rider University in Trenton, NJ, in 1958 and a master’s degree with distinction in Logistics Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology in Dayton, Ohio in 1972.  In 1976, he graduated with distinction from the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.

During his years of active duty, he served as the Supply Officer of the USS Great Sitkin AE 17 and the USS Shenandoah AD24, with additional posts in the Canal Zone, Panama;

 

Bayonne, NJ; Saigon, Vietnam; Philadelphia, PA; and Crystal City, VA. He retired from the Navy in 1982 after 24 years of dedicated service to the Navy and his country. Upon retirement from the Navy, he worked for ANADAC in Crystal City, VA as Vice President, President, and CEO until 1998. He served as President of BMW Group until ultimately retiring in 2017.

Harrison was preceded in death by his loving mother, Ruth Harrison and younger brother, Howard E. Walther. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Yolanda (Gallo) Walther of Ashburn, VA, and their three sons: James Walther of San Diego, CA, Robert Walther of Winchester, VA, and Patrick Walther of Wilmington, NC. He leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration for his seven grandchildren: Katherine Groblewski of San Diego, CA, Robert Walther of Seattle, WA, Lauren Lieziert of San Diego, CA, Amy Walther of Ashburn, VA, Jack Walther of Norfolk, VA, Ryan Walther of Wilmington, NC, and Sam Walther of Columbia, SC. He was also blessed with a great-grandson, James Michael Groblewski of San Diego, CA; along with numerous nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 46639 Algonkian Parkway, Potomac Falls, VA 20165 on November 4, at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Harrison Walther's legacy of dedication, service, and excellence will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered
