Obituary of Augustinus Soedarjatno

Augustinus Soedarjatno of Herndon, Virginia passed away peacefully on Saturday morning of October 21,2023 at the age of 90 years old. He was beloved father of Bambang of Michigan; Maria Sanders (Bruce), Koentje Watson (Robert), Susie Neely (Steve) of Virginia. He was the dearest grandfather of Timothy (Joline) of Minnesota; Kathleen Ruffolo (Gabriel), and Matthew (Cassie) of Michigan.  In addition, he was also the dearest grandfather for Christopher & Nicole Sanders; Anastasia, Andrew, & Stephanie Watson; and Julia & Aaron Neely of Virginia.  He was a loving great grandfather of Jude & Lena Soedarjatno of Minnesota; Roman & Damian Ruffolo; and Sophie & Liam Soedarjatno of Michigan.
Augustinus Soedarjatno was also known as Dar by his friends and family.  Dar was number 6^th of 13 siblings in the Martosoedarmo family of Solo, Indonesia.  He was preceded by his parents and 8 of his 13 siblings, as well as his wife Catharina and his daughter in-law Sandra.
Dar was a very determined person, who brought his family to this country for better opportunities for his children.  When he moved to this country, he didn’t have any relatives nor friends that would help him settle in the new country.  He worked hard as a producer and announcer for the Voice of America (VOA), as well as a part time associate at the Hecht’s Company.  
Dar was a very religious person who belonged to several Catholic organizations within the Church such as Knights of Columbus, Eucharistic Ministry for the sick and the Homebound, Lector and others.  He set an example that everything comes from God’s blessing, so his faith and his relationship with God was more important than anything else.  
Visitation will be on Thursday November 9, 2023 at 5pm until 8pm at Adams - Green Funeral Home & Crematory in Herndon, Va.  Final service will be on November 10, 2023 with a Mass at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Herndon, Virginia.  Final resting place will be at the National Memorial Park Cemetery in Falls Church, Virginia, which is scheduled at 1pm.
