James Blaine Overbay of Celebration, Florida died June 13, 2011 at Hospice of the Comforter in Altamont Springs, Florida. Jim was born in Johnson City, Tenn Oct 22, 1932, where he attended Science Hill High school. After graduation, he made the decision to enlist in the Air force from that point on things changed in his life. He decided to pursue a career in computers where his training began at Lackland AFB, Texas. His first tour of duty was in Newfoundland, which gave him lasting memories to remember and share with family and friends. His next journey was Randolph AFB, Texas where he thought his military career would end. He had planned to finish the tour, return to his hometown and start his college education, then things changed in life - he happen to be at a dance, and met this girl who he fell for and six months later she became his bride, Eula Faye Hays. He decided to reenlist and was assigned to Lowry AFB, Colo. where he spent one year of duty. He then was assigned to Gulfport, Mississippi where a son was born, James Blaine Overbay, Jr. Two years later he was assigned to Langley AFB where a daughter, Sheila and a son, Stephen, were born. He then spent another two years at Randolph AFB, Texas where his last son, Bruce was born. He then was assigned to bowling AFB, Washington, where his military career ended and he retired. However, he started his next career as a civilian working for the Department of Housing & Urban Development in Washington, DC. He spent 20 years with HUD until he retired again. After 20 years in military and 20 years in government, he was ready for a change of pace and decided to retire to Florida and start a pleasure career working for Walt Disney. He started at Magic Kingdom and then was one of the initial crew of Animal Kingdom. In Florida, he enjoyed the children & grand children frequent visits and spending fun time. His career ended after 15 years with Disney. Some of Jim's favorite hobbies were - building puzzles, Sudoku, watching spring training and the Tampa Bay Rays. He enjoyed Chick-fil-A, and Perkins breakfasts. He loved reading maps, and could remember locations easily. He is survived by his wife, Eula Faye Overbay of Celebration, Florida: four children; James Blaine Overbay, Sr. of Leesburg, Virginia; Sheila Chewning of Burke, Virginia; Stephen Overbay of Ramstein, Germany; and Bruce Overbay of Davidsonville, Maryland. He has two surviving brother, Bill Overbay of Bristol, Tenn; and Bob Overbay of South Dakota. He is survived by nine grand children; Stacey Overbay, Nicole Overbay, Kyle Overbay, Blaine Overbay, Troy Chewning, Bruce Overbay, David Overbay, Stephanie Chewning, and Eddie Overbay. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren; Mason and Dylan Widup.
