Obituary of Agostino Pastro

Agostino A. Pastro, 86, of Reston, Virginia, passed away on November 10, 2023.

Agostino, fondly known as “Tony,” was born to Gerardo and Anna Pastro on December 30, 1936, in Washington, DC.  As a child, he enjoyed playing the accordion and participating in athletic endeavors.  He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1955, where he lettered in football and track.  From there, he went on to proudly serve his country as an airman in the U.S. Air Force in 1959 to 1964.  He graduated from college while in the service, and then, went on to work in the accounting and auditing fields.  He began his Federal civilian career as an auditor in 1962.  He later became a branch manager for the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), where he retired in 1997.  In his free time, he enjoyed cheering on the Washington sports teams, working on cars, and doing household projects. 

Tony is predeceased by his former spouse, Diane, the mother of his four children; his mother Anna; his father Gerardo; his sister Maria Moore; and granddaughter Heather.  He is survived by his four children: Paul and his wife Dana, Jerald, Lori and her husband Charlie, and Bill and his wife Ann Marie.  He is also survived by his “adopted” son Mark Duda.

Tony, fondly known as “Granddad” or” Pop-Pop,” doted on his five grandchildren:  Seth, Jordan, Christine, JJ, and Christian.  His grandkids loved spending time with him and will truly miss him.

Tony’s favorite role was being a father and a grandfather.  He loved nothing more than spending time with his family.  He was always there for them, whether fixing things, providing financial advice, coaching sports teams, or preparing nice meals.  In his later years, he enjoyed spending summers at his second home in Wildwood, NJ. 

Tony’s family will host visitors at Adams-Green Funeral Home on Monday, November 20, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Services will be held at the funeral home between 6 – 7 pm led by Father Matthew Deforest.  Burial will take place on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 13801 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20906.  There will be a Memorial Service for Agostino “Tony” A.
