Fira (Ester) Cherkasskiy, 86, of Herndon, Virginia, passed away on November 13, 2023. 

Fira was born to Benjamin and Leah Solyar on October 7, 1937, in Vinnytsia, Ukraine. She graduated from Vinnytsia High School No. 32 in 1954, and she graduated from Perm State Agro-Technological University in 1959 with a Master’s degree in Agronomy. From there, she went to work as an agronomist in her hometown until she emigrated to the USA in 1994. 

Fira is predeceased by her mother Leah Vysotsky, father Benjamin Solyar, brother Shaya Solyar, and her husband Feliks Cherkasskiy. She is survived by her two sons: Ilya and his wife Michelle, Roman and his wife Svetlana, and grandchildren: Lillia and her husband John, Betty, Felix, and Benjamin, as well as great grandchildren Ella, Karla, Sam, Hector, and Emily. 

She dedicated all her life to her family, her parents, and her children. She was a nurturing and loving mother, wife, and grandmother. She was our rock.

Fira’s family will host visitors at Adams-Green Funeral Home on Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Services will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 to 1:00 PM led by Rabbi Bonny Grosz. The burial will take place at 1:00 PM at Chestnut Grove Cemetery at 831 Dranesville Rd, Herndon, VA 20170
