Obituary of Raymond Latka
Raymond “Ray” Latka, 82, of Ashburn, VA peacefully passed away on December 12, 2023. He was born on October 31, 1941, in Mayfield, PA.
Those who knew Ray Latka were very blessed with a loyal and fun-loving friend. Ray was a dedicated family man and is survived by his sons Mike Latka and wife Pam Latka, Chris Latka and wife Kelly Latka, Nathan Latka, Seth Latka, and daughter Rochelle Latka. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Brittney Pittman, Katlyn Grimes, Austin Latka, Connor Latka, and great-granddaughter Raegan Pittman. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Latka, and his wife Joyce Viens Latka.
Ray proudly served in the US Navy, where he made significant contributions to our county. After his military service, Ray had a successful career with the US Postal Service and later as a security guard at Redskins Park. He was dedicated to his work and always went the extra mile to ensure excellence and have a little bit of fun doing it.
Ray was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Purcellville, VA. His faith was an important aspect of his life and he found comfort in his religious community.
In his free time, Ray enjoyed playing adult league softball and later discovered a passion for umpiring girls’ softball. He was a devoted fan of the Washington Redskins and loved cheering them on. Ray also enjoyed playing poker with his friends, always bringing laughter and joy to the table.
A viewing for Ray Latka will be held on Saturday, December 16th, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Adams-Green Funeral Home located at 721 Elden Street in Herndon, VA. There will then be a presession to Sterling Cemetery for a gravesite ceremony.
Raymond Latka will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His kindness, loyalty and zest for life will forever be remembered.
