There was never a challenge that Armella didn’t do her best to take on. She was an achiever, collegial and a natural leader. Her legacy endures.

I’m saddened to hear of Armella’s passing. I've known Armella for close to 25 years working at Orbital and she not only was a talented engineer, but also genuinely nice and kind person. She always impressed me with her willingness to learn and of course her triathlon prowess. I will miss her. My sincere condolences to her family, who I know she loved dearly. I’m so sorry for your loss.

I just learned about this and I’m so sad. We were on lancettes together at Lake Park High School and had the best times. We stayed in touch over the years and remained friends. I’m so sorry about this. She was so full of life and too young.

Armella's mother, Charlene Chapman, was a very dear friend as we worked together to prevent impaired driving in Illinois. Charlene died of pancreatic cancer in 2013. It is more than devastating to have the same disease take her wonderful daughter ten years later. Armella's life story is an inspiration to all. Her mother was so very proud of her, her meaningful accomplishments and her beautiful kind blue eyes. My heart breaks for Armella's family and friends with this said loss.

Army had been a friend since high school. We represented our high school as Lancettes, as you’ll see in the photos. She was and I were so proud of the fact we took second place at state even though the sound to our routine cut off after 30 seconds in. Synchronization. Humor, intelligence, beauty, and that gorgeous mane of hair!!!
She wasn’t a friend. She was like family, and at times like these, you wonder why about a lot of things.

To Todd, Taylor, Erik and Camryn. I’m sure going to miss my cousin Armella. She was the greatest cousin I could have. She was always so cheerful and upbeat. She was always there for me. She always played Words with Friends with me clear up til Dec 9th. I remember growing up with her. Going to the Chapmans. I’m going to try and find some photos of her and all of us. Our whole family was always so proud of her and her accomplishments. Our little rocket scientist. I’m sure going to miss you.

I met Armella while playing "words with friends". We discovered that we both lived in Chicago. We shared many things, and I enjoyed her love of sunflowers and the pictures she sent.
I am so sorry to hear of her passing. The family and friends will be in my prayers. I am so very sad.
I will think of Armella every time I see a sunflower.

Thank you, Armella, for your kindness, positivity, and support. Though our time together was brief, your wisdom and encouragement has had an astronomical impact on my life. I couldn't ask for a better mentor, and I feel honored that I've had the chance to learn from you. You will be greatly missed.

Armella helped hire me into her organization and has played an outsized role in my recent career. Though I only worked with her for a short time, it was clear from our first conversation what a positive and generous mentor she was, and also how much she loved her family. It was a pleasure learning from her, we’ll miss her greatly.

I added the photos of Armella, our friend Lisa, and myself at the "Friends Experience" in NYC. We took a train up there for the day, had a wonderful lunch, and then the "experience." It was October 2021.
Armella was so much fun and a lovely person!

Armella was an incredibly kind soul and a passionate engineer. As her employee, she made me feel seen and supported. She was a champion for her team, and there's no doubt that her beautiful spirit carried through to other parts of her life. Thank you for everything.

Thanks Armella for the encouragement, the laughter and the professionalism. You were always a tour de force in the workplace and on the "field", not just pushing yourself to excellence, but those around you! You will be missed.

Armella was an amazing friend of mine. Here is a picture of our Itasca friend group from high school. I will never forget the good times we had, e.g., our sleepovers, swimming in her pool, vacations, college days in Arizona, and so much more. She was so kind, beautiful, and smart. Love you always.

We build rockets and spaceships to explore the unknown and to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Armella always put everyone above herself. While I'll miss you down here, I'll look up knowing a part of you is floating in space. Ad Astra!
