Obituary of Palmer Berryman Reagan

Palmer B. Reagan Reston , Virginia Palmer B. Reagan, 84, of Reston, Virginia, died Sunday, April 18 at Greenspring rehabilitation center in Springfield, Virginia, of complications from pneumonia. Born April 6, 1926 in Norfolk, Virginia, she was the daughter of Edwin C. and Palmer W. Berryman. She earned a B.A. in sociology from The College of William and Mary in 1948, where she was also a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Upon graduation, she was employed by the Norfolk Department of Public Welfare in the field of adoption placement. She volunteered at the Northern Virginia Training Center, where she worked with autistic children, and for the American Red Cross, working at blood drives throughout Northern Virginia. During the 1980s, she was a docent at Oatlands, a property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation located outside Leesburg, Virginia. She was a lifelong democrat and supporter of affiliated causes. She and her family were residents of Reston for more than 35 years. She was pre-deceased by one son, Emmett F. Reagan, Jr. who died in 1988. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Emmett F. Reagan of Reston; five children, Jonathan D. Reagan, Tucson, Arizona; James C. Reagan, Brambleton; Paul J. Reagan, Springfield; Stephen P. Reagan, Reston; and Sarah Reagan Koupash, Centreville. She is also survived by five grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 21, 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Adams-Green Funeral Home, Herndon, Virginia. A funeral mass will be offered from St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Reston, Virginia, on Thursday, April 22 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1503 Michaels Road, Henrico, Virginia, 23229.
