Dear Mike and Family, It's very hard to find the right words to express sorrow when our loved ones die as well as comfort and hope for those of us who must continue to enjoy life as much as we can. A part of the Greek Orthodox Memorial Prayer asks God "...to give rest to the soul of your departed servant (Barbara), in a place of light, in a place of green pastures, in a place of repose, where all pain and sorrow and grief have fled away." My thoughts are with you and your children during this difficult time. May precious memories of Barbara's love and caring fill your hearts. Barbara was an incredibly courageous woman and above all things a loving mother. While facing her own mortality she sought to bring hope to those around her by sharing her experiences with them. A dedicated mentor, she guided others through difficult times channeling her own fear and pain to bring comfort and strength to women facing this disease. Her generosity was limtless, volunteering to help in any way she could: from phone calls to eMails to bringing dinner with toys for the kids and movies to help keep you laughing through the tears. She brought her beautiful artwork and her talents to the schools her children attended. Barbara was a source of inspiration for many women - researching new treatments, learning as much as she could, trying to conquer each new challenge with hope and always putting her children first. Her spirit of compassion and determination will live on through those whom she counseled. Barbara’s care and concern for others will always be with us through the stories and experiences she shared to comfort those who are facing this battle.
