Obituary of Jean Shephard

Jean Ferguson Shephard (Age 81). Jean Ferguson Shephard, beloved wife of the late T.Leonard Shephard passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at her home in Herndon, Va. Mother of Elizabeth Dripps (Steve) , Thompson L. Shephard (Dottie), and Jeannie Kay Shill (Walt); grandmother of Steven, Mike and Elizabeth Dripps, Wesley and Abbie Shephard, William, Daniel and Mayumi Shill and great grandmother of Cameron Shephard. She is survived by her two sisters Carol McConomy and Betsy Meyers and sister-in-law Dottie Harder. Jean was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on November 26, 1929 to Kraeer and Betty Ferguson . She attended Lower Merion high school in Ardmore Pa. and married her high school sweetheart Len, in 1951. They settled in Herndon, Virginia in 1962 where they remained together until Len's death in 2000. She worked in Customer Service at Sears for over 20 years. Her remaining years were spent enjoying her family, tending to her garden and more importantly attending the activities and sports games of her grandchildren, which was her passion. Her family and friends will dearly miss "Gammy", with her ready smile and warm and loving embrace. A memorial service will be held at Floris United Methodist Church in Herndon on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM.
