Lawrence R. Simmons of Great Falls, VA passed away on October 4, 2007 at Reston Hospital after a long battle with lung cancer. He was a biochemist for 17 years with Radiological Health in Rockville, MD. After retiring from that career, he became co-founder of Great Falls construction Company in 1979. He retired again in 2000 to begin a third career with his wife, Lynne, operating the two Village Green Day Schools, Great Falls and Lowes Island. He has been active in the Great Falls community serving for 33 years with the Lions Club in a variety of offices, most recently as a member of the Executive Board and as a member of Christ The King Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife Lynne of 42 years; his son, Ian; daughter-in-law, Cyndi; grandson, Harrison; brother, Dave of Bonita Springs, FL; sister, Martha Carr and brother-in-law, Richard Carr of Williamsburg, VA; nieces, Jacque Majestic, Sally and Tina Majestic and nephew, Joey Majestic. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 8 th from 7-9pm at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 10550 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls, VA, where a Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 9 th at 3pm. Interment will be private.
