Obituary of Brenda Soltoff

Brenda Watkins Soltoff November 2, 1954 - January 20, 2012 After a three-year battle with cancer, Brenda passed away peacefully at home comforted by her loved ones. For the last few months, she was being cared for at home by her husband and Evercare hospice. She traveled a long and difficult road the last few years but she faced it with bravery and courage, determined to enjoy the time she had left. After her diagnosis, she continued to travel and watched two children get married. Her positive attitude was an inspiration to all who knew her; she will be dearly missed. She is survived by Roy, her husband of 30 years, her children: Stacey Soltoff; Stefanie (nee Soltoff) Richardson and her husband, Cardell; and Benjamin Soltoff and his wife Amanda. She also leaves behind her parents, Charles & Beverly Watkins, her brother Richard Watkins and his wife Roxanne, and her sister Monica Simoes and her husband Jerry, as well as several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and -nephews. Brenda was born in Hialeah and grew up in Miami. She attended Shenandoah Valley Academy in Virginia, and graduated from Loma Linda University in California. After college she worked at a print shop, where she met her husband. For twenty years, she worked for Shoppers Food Warehouse in Sterling where she made many friends with co-workers and customers. From chaperoning school field trips to scouting and nine years with the Broad Run Band Parents Association, she has always been active in her children's lives. A memorial service will be held at 7PM on Friday, January 27 th , at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, VA. Her family will be holding an open house to receive friends and relatives at their residence on Saturday the 28th from 12 noon to 5 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Brenda's name to the oncology unit at Inova Loudoun Hospital where she received care, or to the American Cancer Society.
