Obituary of Leroy Spence

LeRoy Joseph Spence, age 94, of Herndon, VA, passed away on June 17 th . He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Petrina Spence, who died on June 13 th . He is survived by five children: Paul Spence, Tom Spence, Miriam Flowers, Rose James, Helen Ross; five step-children: George Ludwig, Kerry Ludwig, William Ludwig, Lura Jean Gardner, and Fred Ludwig; 20 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren. He retired from the Department of Defense and worked as counsel for the House Armed Services Committee from 1976 to 1981. He was known as the "Silver Fox of the Potomac". Family will receive friends Sunday, June 20, 2010 from 4-8 PM at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 21, 2010 at 11 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 750 Peachtree Street, Herndon, VA.
