Potomac Falls, Virginia resident Robert D. Strock, 88, died September 26, 2011. Mr. Strock was born August 10, 1923, in Manila, Philippines, where his father was stationed with the US Army. He graduated from the Citadel, Class of 1944, and later received a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He served in both WW II and the Korean War. Most of his military career was spent in the Army Signal Corps where he is attributed with the design and development of both the Autovon and Autodyn systems. Mr. Strock retired from the United States Army as a Colonel. Following his military career, Mr. Strock held various executive positions at Sprint, TRW Vidar, Lenkurt, and Siecor. He was preceded in death by his wife Lela E. Hix Strock, and his first wife, Edna Lucy Hook Strock and their son Bruce Martin Strock and daughter Leslie D. Strock. He is survived by his daughter, Diane Strock Royal, son Robert D Strock, Jr., and sister Phyllis Strock Goloway; and his stepsons Jim and Steven Hix. A celebration of his life will be held at 3PM on November 5, 2011, at Brown's Chapel, 11450 Baron Cameron Avenue, in Reston Virginia. His funeral will be at Arlington National Cemetery on January 3, 2012.
