John H. Thompson, age 98 of Potomac Falls, VA died on November 13, 2007 at Reston Hospital Center. He was born on January 22, 1909 in Morgantown, WV to the late Charles W. and Marguerite Thompson. John was a 1929 graduate of McKinley Technology High School, and then went on to earn his degree in 1936 from South Eastern University. John was a member and chapter president of Southwest Harbor Lions Club; he was a member of the Masonic Joppa Lodge #51. He was the Vice President of the Washington Federal Savings and Loan, upon retirement he worked for T. Eugene Smith as executive assistant for property development and the President of Newgate Savings and Loan, Centreville, VA. He was also a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Silver Spring, MD. John was the beloved husband of 67 years of the late Jennie L. Thompson, loving and devoted father of Jane L. Schiappa of Potomac Falls, VA, proud grandfather of Brien Schiappa-Dunn and John G. Schiappa, great-grandfather of Persephone Dunn and Phoebe Dunn. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 16 th from 4-7pm at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 17 th at 11:30am at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, MD. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 17 th at 2pm at Adams-Green Funeral Home, Herndon, VA. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind, 1120 20 th Street N.W., Suite 750 South, Washington, DC 20036.
