Xenia, I heard the news today that you have died after a very brave and enduring battle with cancer. I am grateful, and even somewhat envious, that you are able to meet our maker before me but I am also incredibly sad that I will not be able to see you again on this earth. Prior to your China trip we had made an attempt at having you over to our house, you, Mike, and Burke, and we never did get to coordinate that. For that, I'm sincerely sorry and will forever regret not getting to see you one last time. I'm glad that I have the memories and glad that your fight and brave words about your fight will forever be inscribed on the internet. You were a good woman, a good mother, a good wife, a good friend, and a good coworker. You had tremendous zeal for your work regardless of the situation and had a profound commitment to getting everything accomplished despite a lack of time. It was with that same zeal that you found your passion in fighting the very disease that destroyed your body. I'm so blessed to have been called your friend, and will forever be impacted having known you and the many struggles you faced on this earth. It was way too soon for you to die, but we know there is a larger plan for you in the heavenlies. Mike -- I am certain that no words could ever dull the pain you have in your loss, and Burke, oh, wow, to not have your Mom at the time when you need her most while growing up. I pray that you, Mike, and you Burke, will grow even closer and hang on to your faith as you seek to never forget, but overcome the grief with which you are presently stricken and live life the way Xenia would have wanted you to, embracing each day for what it is, a chance to be better -- at anything. Xenia, I never had the pleasure of meeting you I'm sorry to say, however being a co-worker of yours has kept me in the loop throughout your incredibly brave & courageous battle and I was very saddened when I heard the news you had left us. The solace I look for when we lose loved ones is that this is only temporary for you will be together with your husband and daughter again, much, much later of course, but you will all be reunited again with God. I know your daughter is young, but someday she will know all about your courage and strength but most of all the love you have for her, this in turn will keep your beautiful and bright spirit shining in her for the rest of her life. My heart aches for her because I too know what it's like to lose a mom and I know it won't be easy for her which is why she will need the love and support of your family which is why family is so important. My sincerest condolences to your entire family, go be with God Xenia where you will always be young, always be beautiful and have no more pain and suffering, you are deeply missed. Roy Harmony (North)
