Obituary of William Joseph Klauberg

William Joseph Klauberg, Sr. (85) died on Saturday, May 19, 2012 in Alexandria, VA after a brief illness. Cherished husband of the late Kathleen Kelly Klauberg for 57 years, retired President and Chairman of Vinnell Corporation, and a senior executive with United States Lines, Inc., for over 30 years in various posts throughout the world. Beloved father of Christine Davis, Harbor Bluffs, FL, Kathleen Sherr, Golden, CO, Angela Free, San Francisco, CA and William J. Klauberg, Jr., Alexandria, VA. Also survived by five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sister Angela Amann, Shelter Island, NY and many devoted friends. Mr. Klauberg was born in New York, NY on June 30, 1926. He graduated from Brooklyn Preparatory School, the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY where he was Regimental Commander, and the Georgetown School of Foreign Service in Washington DC. Following their marriage in Forest Hills, NY on February 16, 1950, the Klaubergs spent 32 years living in Tokyo, London and various cities in the U.S. before moving to their home in Great Falls 25 years ago. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, May 24 2012, 11 A.M. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1020 Springvale Road, Great Falls, VA 22066. Interment will immediately follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of William J.
