Our memories of Mr. Budd go back to his days working at H & R Block. When he branched out on his own, we followed him. Because of his professionalism and expertise in filling out income taxes, we always felt confident when we filed our paperwork. Mr. Budd was very proud of the time he spend in the service and it showed. Our children went to Park View with your sons and were also saddened to hear of Mr. Budd's passing. We send the entire Budd family our condolences. May Mr. Budd rest in peace. Sincerely, Donald (Dave) & Alice Canham

Dear Dot and family: May God bless you and yours during this time. We have been blessed to know you and Rick over the years. We could always count on Rick to provide tailored, friendly and accurate tax services but, more importantly, we always found him to be a warm and caring person we grew to call friend and confidante. We know he is with the Lord in heaven and at peace. May you know that peace in the coming months. Please know that we will always remember you and Rick with great fondness. Sincerely, Pete and Charlotte Alvarez

I had the pleasure of meeting and working for then Captain Ricky Budd in 1981 while we were both stationed in Okinawa. Little did I know how much this man would influence my career and life. After six months together on that tiny island, I followed him to Washington DC where I had the pleasure of meeting his family, continuing to learn many skills, and traveling to exotic places such as Panama, Cuba, Charleston, and many more. Rick was a great teacher, always willing to point out ones strengths and weaknesses. On a different note, I don't want to accuse Rick of being tight, but I remember making many trips to the Fort Meyer gas station because we could save 2 cents on a gallon of gas, or going to the commissary as it was cheaper than the seven day store..must have been the auditor in him. Anyway, thank you, and Semper Fi Marine! Dan Lybert

“To measure the man, measure his heart.” ― Malcolm S. Forbes To the Budd Family I pray to God during this trying time for your family that he provide you with peace and love for we are all his children. I did not know Mr. Budd but I have had the pleasure of knowing Jim for 23 years and have conviction that one way of judging a man is to look at what type of people his children have grown up to be. By knowing Jim it is evident that his father was a great man with many good qualities and kindness that he passed on to Jim. I think him for serving our Country for so long. Through the grief please find solace in the celebration of his life and how long you were able to enjoy him for the man he was. God Bless, Kirk Hilliard

I am fortunate to have known Rick for some time. When trouble came and all others walked away he stood by my side helping hold fast, asking nothing in return.
I have many stories that reflect the man but for some reason this came first to mind.
Before Rick suffered his heart ailment he had a regiment. Rising early in the morning he would walk about for exercise. Making the mundane more interesting and the eye of an eagle, he would plan his path to intersect those places where others less careful would drop coins. Often he would report to me the figures he had amassed. On one occasion Rick was to arrive at my office for lunch and knowing his schedule I purposely gathered a large cash of coins and spread them upon the parking lot with meandering manner. Several of us stood hidden to watch the show. Well we got a good laugh watching him gather up all that booty. Back and forth, left and right from one coin to another. Never though he would get it all but on tally he had more than I had spread. He did not mind the laughs at what I thought was his expense but feeling a little naughty I apologize for creating the spectacle. On apology he said; "no need, I got your money" and so he did.
Rick could bark at you like a Gunny but he didn't bark unless he cared. He was the old school where duty, honor and a damn good mix of pragmatism could guide those wise enough to listen. A man I never saw waver, I never thought need apologize and most of all a man who was proud and loving of his wife, sons, father and poopy dog.
He has my admiration, respect and friendship. I will sorely miss you Rick.
God bless and keep you.

I've known Rick for more than half of my life and he will continue to be an inspiration to me. Rick has always done exactly what made him happy in life, and I truly admire him for that. He always had a smile on his face, even when sleeping at his office during tax season! I'm happy Rick was able to be in his favorite place in his last days, HI. Love & hugs to the family, Shelie.

As a friend of Ricky's son Jim Budd, we can only imagine that Ricky was a great man. And then reading the obituary is all the proof we need, and we can all be thankful for his service to our country, and for some of the stories that Jim has shared. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jim and the entire family.
