My deepest sympathies and condolences go out to Mrs. Weeks, Grant, Linnie and the rest of her beloved family. I can't even fathom the immeasurable grief and loss you are all feeling. I pray the Lord gives each of you all the strength, courage and comfort He knows you will need in the following days, weeks and years to come. My heart especially goes out to my second mom, Mrs. Weeks. You and Kathleen were so incredibly close; I know how devastated you are. I can hardly wrap my mind around the fact that Kathleen, my dear and close friend, is gone. We were best friends in high school and I was so blessed to have that relationship transcend and survive all these years. So many wonderful and sweet memories of Kathleen have been going thru my mind the past 2 days; being cheerleaders together throughout high school together, double dating(especially our senior prom), tandem bike riding around Williamsburg, the week we spent in Nags Head right after graduation, being my maid of honor at my 1971 wedding, being her maid of honor at her 1975 wedding and standing as godmother to my first born daughter in 1975, Shannyn Kathleen Victoria Marie. My most recent fondest memory was the wonderful 3 days we spent together with our husbands at her childhood home with Mrs. Weeks during our DHS Reunion in 2010…laughing, reminiscing and watching old home movies. These are all part of so many lovely memories I will hold near and dear of a wonderful and beautiful friend, both inside and out, who I was blessed and privileged to know and have as a part of my life. To Grant, Linnie, and the family: I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Kathleen. She was a special lady and a great classmate from DHS '70. In high school, I enjoyed playing basketball with her. She was quite an athlete. Our class was so proud of her for being Miss DHS in the 8th grade. It was a pleasure to see her (and Grant) at our 2006 DHS reunion and again in 2010. Linnie: she spoke so highly of you and your work, flying to mission points in Africa. May God's hand of comfort bless you in your time of loss.

Kathleen made such an effort to reach out to people and bring them together! She was always making sure our circle of friends did activities to get to see each other. She was always the one making the phone calls to everyone. She could walk into a place not knowing anyone, and walk out having made a friend - and truly follow up on that friendship. What an amazing gift that was! Grant - she loved you like crazy and always thought of you and what you needed. Mrs Weeks - you were her best friend! She loved the close ties with you and always spoke of you - so much so, I feel I know you too! I'll miss her and both feel sad that she is gone and at the same time lucky to know her and have her count me as a friend.
