Janice E. Scheetz July 29, 1937 - June 24, 2012 Janice E. Scheetz, 74, found eternal rest Sunday, June 24th at her home in Sterling, VA. Janice (Jan) was born July 29, 1937 in Wabash, IN to Bob and Laura Jean Williams. She is survived by her brother Stanley Williams of TN, sister Christine Morehead of CA, daughters Cindy Berg of Sterling, VA, Cheri Bryan (Bill) of Sterling,VA and Cathy Oliff (Frank) of St. Louis, MO and seven grandchildren Jeremy and Lindsay Berg, Rachael, Rebecca and Rosalyn Bryan, and Nicholas and Curtis Oliff. The oldest of the three Williams' children, Jan enjoyed spending time on her grandparent's Garl and Alma Williams' farm with siblings Stan and Chris. She passed time riding her Shetland Ponies and helping out with the farm animals. She participated in 4-H Fairs enjoying the activities and outdoors. After graduating high school in Wabash, IN, Jan moved to Lafayette, IN to attend St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. While boarding at Rose Scheetz's home, offered to prospective nursing students, Jan met Robert (Bob) Scheetz who she married May 3, 1958. Once receiving her nursing degree, she worked as a Registered Nurse in the surgical department for St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lafayette, IN. She enjoyed the excitement and importance of the operating room and had the opportunity to assist in a broad set of surgical procedures. Her love of medicine continued throughout her entire life. Jan moved with her husband and three girls from Indianapolis, IN to Sterling, VA in 1968 following Bob's job with the U.S. Government. Jan and Bob were actively involved socially and politically in the Sterling community. She was a member of the Sterling Park Jayceettes and an Officer of the Sully PTA. Always devoted to her children, she frequently traveled with them to compete in their sports activities while supporting and encouraging them to pursue their education and personal ambitions. As a faithful member of the Catholic Church, Jan witnessed the Marriage of her three daughters and the Baptism of her seven grandchildren at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Sterling, VA. She actively participated in each of their Catholic Confirmations and was the Confirmation Sponsor to many of her grandchildren, including the youngest as recently as May 2012. Devoted to her love of God, prayerful ways, and Christian beliefs, she was a significant and influential role model to her grandchildren's Catholic faith. Jan's greatest joy in life came from her role as a loving mother and "Granny". She devoted and prioritized her time unselfishly, offering herself in order to enrich and assist in their lives. Her guidance and support allowed her family to accomplish many of their goals. She was admired and respected for her kind heart and strong will for humanity. Jan was also committed to her work at the Fairfax County Government in VA where she first worked in the Plumbing & Inspections Department and then the Plan Review Department and retired after more than twenty years of service. It was at Fairfax County that Jan met Ernest (Bud) Lester, Chief Fairfax Plumbing Inspector, who became a significant person in her life and for many years enjoyed spending time with each other. Together they attended mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Herndon, VA where they stayed close to their faith and God. Jan spent the last eight years enjoying retirement, traveling to unique places with her family across the country and vacationing at the beach, always with a light heart and fun ways. Jan loved spending time outdoors in the sun and took every opportunity to enjoy the warmth and beauty of the summer months. Her passing on June 24th, a warm sunny Sunday and God's day of rest and worship, was God's making and in accordance with His will and identifies with Jan's commitment to her faith and happiness on earth and signifies her final resting place in Heaven. May God Bless and keep Jan close to Him while allowing her to continue to sprinkle the warmth and beauty of her love through the sunny rays of the heavens on all of her family and loved ones. We love you and know you will always be with us! Your loving Family
