Obituary of Dereck Craig McAvoy

Dereck Craig McAvoy, 57 died on June, 30th, 2012 at his home in Reston Virginia. Dereck was born June 7th 1955 to Nelson and Barbara McAvoy in Grafton WV. Dereck graduated from American University and began a thirty four year career at Mid South Building Supply. Through his hard work and skill he helped to establish and expand the company, as the vice president of sales. Although Dereck was very successful in his work endeavors, those who knew him best will likely most remember him for his unbridled gregariousness, and the magnanimity he showed his friends. Dereck was a devoted father to both his son Kyle and late daughter Erin Kathleen. Dereck is survived by his wife Julie McAvoy, son Kyle McAvoy, brother Sean McAvoy, and sister Kimberly Barrett. A viewing will be held from 6-8pm on Sunday July 8th at Adams-Green Funeral Home in 721 Elden St. Herndon Virginia 20170 where a funeral service will take place at 10:00am Monday July 9th with interment to follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon Virginia.
